Matthew Roth is a New York State licensed acupuncturist with advanced training in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. His journey into Chinese medicine began in 2019, when he turned to acupuncture and herbal medicine for stubborn eczema that had persisted for years despite conventional treatment. The physical and emotional relief he experienced sparked a deep curiosity about Chinese medicine and ultimately inspired him to pursue it professionally.
That experience eventually led him to Pacific College of Health and Science, where he completed five years of intensive study and earned his Master’s degree in Acupuncture with a specialization in Chinese herbal medicine. During his training, he developed a deep appreciation for the holistic principles of Chinese medicine and its approach to understanding the body as an interconnected system rather than focusing solely on individual symptoms.
In his clinical practice, Matthew enjoys treating a wide range of conditions, including chronic digestive concerns, migraines, musculoskeletal pain, and other persistent health issues. He has a particular interest in orthopedic acupuncture and pain management, and finds it especially rewarding to help patients experiencing back and neck pain, muscular tension, injuries, and conditions that interfere with mobility and everyday function.
Among the specialized techniques he brings to his practice is Bo’s Method of Abdominal Acupuncture (薄氏腹针疗法), an approach that uses acupuncture points on the abdomen to address conditions affecting different areas of the body. He incorporates this technique particularly when treating patients with peripheral neuropathy, chronic back pain, neck tension, and pain affecting the arms and legs.
In addition to acupuncture, Matthew incorporates Chinese herbal medicine and dietary guidance when appropriate. He believes these therapies can be particularly valuable for patients with chronic or more complex internal conditions, providing additional support alongside acupuncture and allowing treatment to address both immediate symptoms and underlying patterns of imbalance.
Drawing from both his clinical training and his own experience as an acupuncture patient, Matthew approaches each treatment with curiosity, compassion, and individualized attention. His goal is to understand the broader factors contributing to each patient’s condition and develop a thoughtful treatment plan that supports meaningful, lasting improvements in health and quality of life.
